So I got to see my old college friend, Monique, today. I had not seen her since college, which was quite some time ago, and so we hung out and ate food and talked of many things.

At one point, she groused about fluffy, flakey neopagans who adopt Native American identities and practices in an attempt to be "special" (Monique's family is Lakota and Mandan). I laughed so hard at what she said, that I decided it must be shared here:

*squeaky voice* "Hi, I'm Rainbow Flowerfarter Woman, and this is my husband, Chafe Turdgargler Warrior!"

Just now I have absolutely fallen in love with the name "Rainbow Flowerfarter". I'm adding it to my list of "Potential Name-Changes if I Ever Go Completely Batshit". At the very least, she will be an RP character.

Her special power will be like the Care Bear Stare, only gone horribly wrong.

I'm glad Sargon's not here to hear me laughing like a lunatic.

Hahahaha. "Turdgargler" made me want to throw up a bit. I think I thought about it too much.

Hehe hehehe!

Since I've worked with a medicine woman who charges white people $70 an hour to learn her "special wisdom"-- I know just what you mean!

(And no, I didn't seek her out, either, she took me in as a student for a time-- after she found out I was a Dreamer. I learned I don't have what it takes to be a Medicine Woman myself!)

Well, you might be better off. From what Monique told me, a person who speaks with spirits gets "used up" by the process, and eventually dies young. It's an arduous and taxing calling, and not for the faint of heart or faint of butt.

used up and spit out

That's not true-- lots of mediums (spirit talkers) make it to old age. You just have to know where to draw your limits and how to recharge. STUPID mediums, however...? Not so lucky. It pays to know what the hell you're doing, I tell ya. =^P

Anyway, I meant Medicine Woman in the physical and spiritual Healer sense-- apparently, I SUCK as a healer. Don't have a natural affinity for herbs or human biology according to Nahili's tests.

I don't think she was just talking about mediums, though. These people are definitely more well-done.
