It occurs to me that I haven't blogged anything about my cats recently. This is a serious lapse, because it's my sincere hope that, by reading about (and viewing pictures and video of) my cats, you will all come to a greater understanding, and deeper appreciation, of my cats.

So, let's get on with it!

Here we see Bella doing her yoga exercises. I think. She might have had a temporary rigidity failure in her skeleton.

Bella and Yitzak are here busily practicing their favorite passtime: sleeping in a puddle. Bella is fast asleep, while Yitzak charges his lasers.

Bella has lost all cohesion and is becoming a liquid, while Yitzak contemplates the surrealism thereof.

"Yes, Bella, be a dear and aim your lasers over there, won't you? See if you can hit Flew's elbow. Maybe then he'll feed us."

You see what I have to put up with? Terrible, really, to turn around and see this sort of thing going on behind me. Clearly they lead such hard lives, no?

And finally, here is video proof that Bella does not hide and shrink away when it's just me around.

They are cute! And would you believe that Yitzak is nearly 15, and Bella is 8? They still snuggle like kittens even so.

That's so sweet. Gatsby just rampages like a kitten (he's 5), he's not much of a snuggler, though he does demand attention at all times. Cinnamon (she's about 10)is a big (in all senses) cuddlebeast. She goes to bed with me, and stays there until I get up. They aren't really affectionate to each other, though at times, I have caught them surreptitiously grooming each other.

Yitzak and Bella are almost like littermates, or married, if cats did marriage. Except that Yitzak raised her, so it's more like a parental thing, I think. But they snuggle together all the time, and chase each other around when it's Apeshit Time. It's so cute your head might explode into candy.

Miette is more standoffish (read: bitchy) towards them, although she does sometimes snuggle with one or the other, or rarely both (see icon).

Ahh, that makes sense, then. Cinnamon's only been with us a little over a year, and her and Gatsby's personalities are so different.

I love that icon. The closest we have is when both cats are on the bed. My side, because I get in last. So I end up all pretzeled around them so as not to wake them.

[livejournal.com profile] ginmar has described her cats (six!) draping themselves over her when she sleeps.

Now I feel like I can't complain when Cinnamon sleeps on my chest. ;)

I keep my cats out of my room when I sleep. This is because Yitzak will get bored and start poking me awake, or Bella will get bored and start knocking things off shelves until I wake up.

Oddly, Miette is the best-behaved: she just curls up and sleeps at the foot of the bed all night. But it wouldn't be fair to let her sleep in there with the other two kept out, so I roust them all out before sleeping.

I do this by saying "Alright, I'm ROUSTIN' ya outta here! Roust! Roust!" And this cues them up to leave. Even Miette follows this now.

When we locked the cats out of the bedroom following my surgery in March, they whined at the door all night. As it is, Cinnamon quietly waits until I get up, while Gatsby gets up a few times to wander, sometimes meowing at us for a midnight snack or attention. (He gets the latter.)

Cinnamon stays in bed with me until I tell her it's breakfast time, when we both go to the kitchen after morning schnuggles.

Mine used to do that, but they learned that I would not open the door even if they whined at full volume. Because I have a fan going that drowns out the noise.

So, usually, I just make sure they have a full dish of food, full water dish, and clean litter box before I go to bed. And if they need something when I wake up, I just find them squatting by the door when I come out. Of course, as soon as I do so, it's "MEW MEW MEW MEW MEW" all over.

This was only for the couple weeks, so there was no time for it to decrease. I just had to keep them out because my stomach couldn't be stood, stepped or slept on.

They just need to be able to access us if we're in, which usually doesn't wake us. Besides, Cinnamon is great in cooler weather for snuggling.

Ahh, heater cats. Miette is an excellent heater cat. She's large, warm, and doesn't move much while she's sleeping. Plus, she likes being under the covers.

They're lovely. I sleep on my stomach if my back hurts so Cinnamon will sleep on top and purr. Almost always fixes it.

I try to avoid having Miette on me. She weighs at least 16 pounds, probably more.

Same with Cinnamon, though she's on a diet. Hence why she had to be kept out of the room after my surgery. I wouldn't have been allowed to lift her to get her off of me when she did try to sleep on me.

Aww! Thank you. I've been fighting off something for a while now, and it defeated me today. So lots of sleep and neo-citran are in order.
