Sometimes I think I try to be, either too profound, or too essaylike, in my entries. Even the humorous ones.

So I decided that I would start posting some short, random thoughts, in small entries. Just for entertainment purposes. It won't take the place of my longer entries, just...y'know...supplement them.

"Not getting your daily dose of Flew? Take new Random Thoughts brand Flew Supplements!"

So anyway, I was driving to the store to get cat food today, and I saw a building being built nearby. This is not unusual, lots of things get built around here. But the contractor had a van out front...and the name of the company was something like "Sievert's".

My thought, on seeing this, was "Umm, gee...your company is named after the SI unit for measuring radiation's biological effects...why does this not sit well with me, when I see you building a house?"

It's like that Far Side cartoon, with "Institute For the Study of Migraine Headaches" next door to "Floyd's School for Marching Bands", and a bunch of angry people with torches and pitchforks coming out of the former, headed for the latter, with the caption "The Dam Bursts."

I do! I often think many people suffer from rhetorical anemia: not enough irony in their diet.

You're full of puns today aren't you? (Puns for victory!)

That being said, I like to come across profound writing, there is depressingly little. And it is generally itself depressing.

Bah. I need to read more programming related material. Least when you get a bit deeper insights into memory management you don't start looking at the gun cabinet a bit too intently.

There's a nuclear reactor in karlsruhe which is owned and operated by the NUKEM group.

I kid you not.

I always like the drive-through liqour stores. Am I really the only one who sees something WRONG with that?
