Quite honestly, when I was around 6 years old, I found a squirrel that had fallen from a tree. I picked it up and brought it home, and was the only kid on the block to have a pet squirrel.

I once found a site dedicated to pregnant fully armored Barbie dolls. The armor looked great, but it was a sort of WTF? imagery regardless. Wish I could find the damn link. Here's one for more armored dogs, instead.
