Oy!

Saw the doctor yesterday. He thinks I may not have just a flu thing, but something more serious. I'm getting x-rayed on Friday, and they're looking for ulcers. I get to swallow barium! Yay!

In other news, I'm back at work. Not a bad thing, overall, except that I sometimes hate the callers. Irritating idiots. Well, I suppose any cross-selection of the population is going to contain irritating idiots, and deaf people are no exception.

Ew. I had to have that test once. It's not so horrible, but yeah... the barium is kind of icky.

Can't help it...

Every time I think of the test, I get Tom Lehrer's "Elements" stuck in my head. You know, the one sung to the tune of "Modern Major General"?

I too have had the barium test, and I too found it not terrible, but hard to do - they want you to swallow a lot of barium very fast. I highly suggest holding your nose so you can't taste it as well. Having a sympathetic tech would help, too. Mine was cheerful, and yet blissfully ignorant of the fact that he was asking me to do something hard, and when I asked him if /he/ had ever tried to drink a cup of barium in 15 seconds, he said "well I've been attending this test for years, but I've never tasted the stuff!"

Annnyway, I hope that yours goes well and is not to embarassing or uncomfortable!

Be sure to let us know how it goes, Flew! Good luck ;-)

I've never done the barium thing - but I *have* had an upper GI thing, where they - um - "introduce" barium via an orifice other than oral.

Yeah.

*shudders at the memory*

Hope you're feeling better soon.... Erin
