LimpingPigeon: WHY HAVE THOSE THINGS NOT BEEN DRIVEN TO EXTINCTION!!!!???
Flewellyn: GAAH
Flewellyn: Probably because they're very successful predators?
LimpingPigeon: THOSE THINGS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO EXIST!!!
Flewellyn: By whom?
LimpingPigeon: ?
Flewellyn: Who should do the allowing?
LimpingPigeon: ME!!!
Flewellyn: Ohh.
LimpingPigeon: And I say that those things are just UNCALLED FOR!
Flewellyn: Why?
Flewellyn: I think they're kinda cool.
LimpingPigeon: Because they're huge and icky!
Flewellyn: So is Donald Trump, but...
LimpingPigeon: ... you win

That's a trick picture. They're actually harmless; they eat other bugs and are very shy, preferring to avoid the harsh desert sun.

Ah. Okay. I did read that they were harmless, but I didn't realize that was a trick picture and that they weren't really that big. That makes me feel better.

Arachnids are one of those things that I am equal parts fascinated by and horrified of. :)

They're not arachnids: they're solifugids. I probably spelled that wrong.

Camel spiders aren't anywhere near that large. For that matter, they're not actually spiders at all.

I'm actually slightly disappointed that they're not that large. As I mentioned in the above comment, I am equal parts fascinated by and horrified of arachnids :)

Very much like Henri. But then, even with Henri, her being allowed to live was conditional upon her staying in the basement.

Though, I was considering going back on that one condition once I saw the egg sac.
